Baking Soda Jute Rug Cleaner

  • Gloves to work
  • A bucket
  • White paper towels or white rags o
  • Vacuum cleaner
  • Distilled white vinegar
  • Baking soda
  • Hair dryer or fan

First of all, use the vacuum cleaner to clean the rug. Try your best to remove all the dust as much as possible, move it in different directions to get the most dirt out of it\

Now clean up spills directly with a paper towel or the white rags. Blot the area of the rug, make it sure not to push or rub so hard that you cause excess moisture to seep deep into the fibers. Simply apply club soda to a clean cloth and smoothly blot the jute rug if the spill seems to turn in the form of a stain.  Use the hair dryer or the fan to make the rug dries quickly.

If there are some hard stains on the jute rug, use baking soda for it. You will need to sprinkle baking soda on the rug and allow it to sit overnight. It will definitely work in removing all the stains and at the same time, will absorb bad odors. In the morning, vacuum up the baking soda. Repeat the same process on both sides of the rug until it looks new and cleaned properly.

This baking soda remedy also works to clean up pet accidents quickly from the jute rug. First of all, blot urine quickly and remove solids with paper towels. Take a bucket and mix an equal amount of water and white vinegar in it. Dip a clean cloth into it to smoothly blot the area to clean. At the last, cover the cleaned area of the jute rug in baking soda; it will help to eliminate the odor and works to draw the moisture out of it.
